Purpose Statement
The job of Board Meeting IT Support Technician is done for the purpose/s of maintaining computer, livestream, network equipment in a safe and functional operating condition to support district board and community meetings; meeting the technology needs of the district during board meetings; documenting information; and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns during board meetings.
Essential Functions
- Assesses and responds to malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications during board meetings for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer, livestream, and network support in alignment with board policy expectations.
- Attends board meetings, and other planning meetings, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform board support functions.
- Coordinates with other staff, including the Superintendent, Board President, Board Clerk, and others for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
- Coordinates, operates, and troubleshoots the livestream and public broadcast of Board of Education meetings for the purpose of ensuring compliance and district standards for accessibility, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Ensures accurate timing and consistent implementation of the public comment process in assignment with board policy for the purpose of ensuring compliance with board and district policies and procedures.
- Inspects computer and network equipment requiring specialized computer repair and trouble shooting skills for the purpose of identifying and verifying repair needs.
- Maintains district livestream and broadcasting data for the purpose of ensuring Kansas Open Meetings Act compliance and fair and responsible community access.
- Prepares and maintains records regarding board meeting technology interactions for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information and ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal policy and laws.
- Responds to inquiries for the purpose of solving problems, providing information and/or direction as may be required.
- Responds to all parties (e.g. using work order ticketing system, Webex, teams, phone calls, site and remote support, etc.) for the purpose of solving problems, providing information and/or direction as may be required.
- Responds and supports to directives from the Superintendent and Board of Education for the purpose of meeting the needs and expectations of board meeting technology needs.
Other Functions
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: computer hardware and software, utilizing drills and saws.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment required by profession or trade; utilizing pertinent computer applications; and planning and managing projects.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work environment and/or priorities; adhering to safety practices; working with constant and sustained interruptions; working within time constraints and occasional evening and weekend hours; adhering to district policies; and regular attendance except when taking approved leave.

Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 45% sitting, 40% walking, and 15% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a clean atmosphere.
Experience:
Job related experience within specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required in Job-related experience in human and community relations preferred. Communications experience preferred.
