Job Mission:
 In the role as Data Architect and Lead, you will own and develop Piab’s enterprise data architecture with a strong focus on Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and its ecosystem. You will design and implement robust data models, integrations, and pipelines that enable efficient reporting, advanced analytics, and AI use cases. You will also drive data governance, quality, and best practices across teams to ensure that Piab’s data is trusted, well-structured, and fit for global business decision-making.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar).
    • 6–10 years of experience in data engineering and architecture roles, including D365 F&O data migration experience.
  • Core Technical Background
    • Proven experience as Data Architect, Data Lead, or Senior Data Engineer.
    • Deep knowledge of D365 F&O data structures and integration patterns.
    • Experience integrating D365 F&O with Salesforce and PLM/CAD systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Solidworks).
    • Strong SQL and data warehousing skills (e.g., dimensional modeling, star schemas).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Architecture & Integration
  • Design and maintain an enterprise data architecture centered on D365 F&O, covering finance, supply chain, manufacturing, sales, and product/engineering.
  • Define conceptual, logical, and physical data models and canonical data models, including master data for customers, products, BOMs, suppliers, and other key domains.
  • Architect and implement robust integrations and data entities between D365 F&O, Salesforce, Teamcenter, Solidworks, and the data warehouse/lake.
  • Plan and execute data migrations from various legacy applications to Dynamics 365 F&O.
Hands-On Data Engineering
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines from ERP, CRM, and PLM into a central data platform, ideally in Azure (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Fabric).
  • Implement business rules, transformations, and data quality checks across data flows and models.
  • Optimize data models for reporting (e.g., star schemas) and support analytics and BI tools, preferably Power BI.
  • Troubleshoot and tune performance of data loads, integrations, and analytical queries.
Data Governance & Quality
  • Define data standards, modelling guidelines, and naming conventions.
  • Set up data ownership and stewardship together with business stakeholders; establish and monitor data quality metrics and remediation processes.
  • Support data cataloging, lineage, and documentation, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security requirements.
AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement
  • Prepare and provision datasets and features for AI/ML and advanced analytics use cases, leveraging Azure AI/ML or similar platforms where relevant.
  • Ensure pipelines and models are suitable for ML workloads and experimentation.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists and analytics teams, promoting responsible, well-governed data use for AI and leveraging native AI capabilities in D365, Salesforce, and Azure where relevant.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead and facilitate requirement and solution workshops with ERP, CRM, PLM, and business teams to translate needs into data solutions.
  • Define and communicate a clear data roadmap aligned with business and IT strategy.
  • Mentor and guide data engineers and BI developers; drive adoption of best practices, standards, and modern ways of working.
  • Support major projects (implementations, rollouts, upgrades) on all data-related aspects, in both agile and waterfall environments.
KEY INTERFACES:
  • ERP teams (D365 F&O) and related program/project managers.
  • CRM teams (Salesforce).
  • PLM/CAD teams (e.g., Teamcenter, Solidworks) and engineering/product stakeholders.
  • Business stakeholders in Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales, and Product/Engineering.
  • Data engineers, BI developers, data scientists, and analytics teams.
  • IT service management, infrastructure, and security/governance functions.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 6–10 years of experience in data engineering and architecture roles, including significant experience with D365 F&O and data migration.
  • Experience working in international environments and assignments, with exposure to Europe, US, and Asia implementations (global implementations).
  • Experience in B2B organizations is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel as required by projects and global stakeholders.
  • Experience working with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and project-related tools.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Technical & Platform Skills
  • Strong hands-on skills in SQL and data warehousing (dimensional modeling, star schemas).
  • Practical experience with modern data platforms and ETL/ELT tools, ideally in Azure (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Fabric).
  • Experience with BI tools, preferably Power BI.
Data Governance & AI
  • Proven experience setting up data governance, standards, and stewardship frameworks.
  • Understanding of MDM, data quality management, and data security/privacy principles.
  • Exposure to AI/ML projects and data provisioning for advanced analytics; familiarity with Azure AI/ML or similar platforms is a plus.
Ways of Working & Tools
  • Experience working with tools such as Jira / HP ALM / ServiceNow and SharePoint.
  • Experience working with both agile and waterfall methodologies, with a thorough understanding of change, release, deploy, testing, training, and IT service methodologies.

  • Strong ability to understand business needs and translate them into tangible, scalable data solutions.
