ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ SOCCER COACH
Reports to: Head Boys’ Soccer Coach, Athletic Director, and Building Principal
Department: Extracurricular Programs
Salary: $2,588.00- $2,759.00

DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant High School Boys’ Soccer Coach supports the Head Boys’ Soccer Coach in developing
and maintaining a competitive soccer program that promotes sportsmanship, athlete development,
safety, and academic achievement. This individual assists with instruction, supervision, and program
operations for all levels of high school soccer and is expected to model character, integrity, teamwork,
and professionalism. The assistant coach works collaboratively within the program structure and carries
out responsibilities as assigned by the Head Boys’ Soccer Coach and Athletic Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Assist the Head Boys’ Soccer Coach in planning, organizing, and supervising practices,
matches, and team activities.
● Provide instruction in soccer fundamentals, position-specific skills, tactics, and conditioning.
● Support the implementation of practice plans that develop technical skills, teamwork, and game
understanding.
● Assist with supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices, games, travel, and
team events.
● Help conduct tryouts and player evaluations and support fair and transparent team selection
processes.
● Reinforce team rules, expectations, and disciplinary standards consistent with district and athletic
code policies.
● Assist in monitoring athlete safety, including proper warm-ups, conditioning, injury prevention,
and safe participation.
● Report injuries, safety concerns, or behavioral issues promptly to the Head Boys’ Soccer Coach.
● Assist with equipment setup, inventory, distribution, and collection.
● Assist with field preparation, practice setup, and post-event cleanup in coordination with school
staff.
● Support game-day operations including bench management, warm-ups, substitutions, and
communication with players.
● Maintain effective communication with athletes and parents consistent with program and district
communication protocols.
● Promote and model positive behavior, leadership, sportsmanship, and professionalism at all
times.
● Assist with scorekeeping, statistics, or other game management duties as assigned.
● Support off-season opportunities such as camps, clinics, and skill development programs when
approved.

● Transport student-athletes in district vehicles when required.
● Adhere to all district, league, and WIAA rules and regulations.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Boys’ Soccer Coach, Athletic Director, or
Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
● Knowledge of soccer fundamentals, rules, and safety procedures.
● Experience working with students in an athletic or educational setting.
● Ability to provide instruction and constructive feedback in a positive and supportive manner.
● Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to build positive relationships with athletes, families, and school staff.
Required Certifications (prior to first practice):
● Valid CPR/First Aid Certification
● Completion of all NFHS and WIAA required courses, including:
○ Concussion Management
○ Sudden Cardiac Arrest
○ General Rules and Soccer-Specific Clinics
○ Heat Illness Prevention
○ Vector/SafeSchools Training Courses
● Valid Washington State Driver’s License (if transporting students)
EXPECTATIONS:
● Practices: Attendance required at all assigned practices and team meetings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Prior coaching or competitive playing experience in soccer
● Experience working with youth or school-based athletic programs
● Familiarity with high school soccer rules and match procedures
● Interest in professional growth and contributing to long-term program development
MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
● Successful clearance of FBI and Washington State Patrol background check
● Completion of I-9 and Washington State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure
● Compliance with Oroville School District policies and procedures
