Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting the areas of process development, process implementation, process improvement, and cost reductions. The individual will serve as a technical resource for maintenance, quality, engineering, and manufacturing; and will work within teams to ensure the most effective operation of our processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Troubleshoot problems encountered within current processes, equipment, and operations.
  • Eliminate waste and streamline flow and processes using lean methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, assist in layouts for integration of new products into existing plant areas, develop FMEA’s and flow charts.
  • Create work instructions for any new processes or any process that does not currently have a work instruction
  • Create reaction plans for our most common downtime and scrap events
  • Complete at least a project a quarter to reduce scrap/MRO or increase UPH.
  • Work on issues to eliminate problems by identifying root cause and implementing permanent corrective actions. 
  • Support quality on any customer issues to ensure containment, root cause identification, and corrective actions 
  • Review the KPIs daily to ensure we do not have an FPY, scrap, throughput issue.   If we do escalate with the team and resolve. 
  • Ensure that all processes are documented.
  • Drive visual management into all aspects of the manufacturing environment.
  • Be an active change agent ensuring all changes are done through our CMS process. 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of site safety and health goals, objectives, rules and procedures. He/she will actively participate in the Global Star Safety Framework (GSSF) program, as well as, follow all EHS rules, procedures and policies

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Engineering or Manufacturing/Industrial Technology preferred. 
  • 0-2 years of related experience; automotive industry experience preferred. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
  • PC skills: Operating Systems (Windows 95/98/NT/XP), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Database (Access, dBase)
  • Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD preferable) and PLC programming,
  • Automotive industry standards and process knowledge: SORs, APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEAs, Flow Charts, Routings, IATF 16949
