Mission

The Commercialization Geophysicist is part of the Commercialization or Testing group which helps ensure a smooth transition of products from Research and Development (R&D) to mainstream production usage.


This goal is accomplished during all the software development cycle by working closely with the Engineering & Portfolio Teams. Executing test plans and reporting results for assigned software products is only one part of the Commercialization Geophysicist role.

 

Commercialization Geophysicist can have wide range of backgrounds ranging from Software Engineers to Petro‑Technical Experts (PTEs) as the job requires competencies in software engineering and software testing, as well as competencies in an any relevant domain (such as, Petrophysics, Geology, Geomechanics, Geophysics, Information Engineering, Production and Completion Engineering, Reservoir Engineering and Drilling and Well Engineering).

 

Relationships

  • Reports to Engineering Project Manager.
  • Liaises with Software Developers, Product Analysts, Quality Assurance Manager, Product Champions, InTouch Analysts, and Customers.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

The Commercialization Geophysicist will always comply with DevOps philosophy and is accountable for the quality of the product delivered to our customers.

 

Feature Development

  • Work closely with Portfolio & Engineering team to define new features requirements, user stories specifications and acceptance criteria but also during the full cycle of feature development from pre-kicked off meetings to User Story closure.
  • Provide input to improve product effectiveness, integration, and usability.
  • Ensure engineering solutions meet the acceptance criteria as based upon the current requirements and specifications.
  • Utilize and promote use of the software development standards and testing and evaluation techniques defined by SLB software development organization and contribute towards their improvement.
  • Design, organize and execute test strategy, test plans and test suites with focus on intended application workflows and in close cooperation with the Development & Portfolio teams.
  • Acquire and manage test data required by the test plan
  • Develop and test geophysical workflows.
  • Assist in workflow automation process

 

Bug Management

  • Find, explore, analyze, and prioritize technical problems based on the importance to the end user and effect on overall product quality.
  • Report bugs during feature development and after.
  • Investigate and follow-up bugs coming from PTEs and Customers.
  • Commercialization Geophysicist is responsible of bugs verification and approving to ascertain the developers provided solution works as expected
