$12.00 per hour

 

SUMMARY

Under direction of Park Supervisor in Athletics, this part-time position performs manual labor related to the maintenance of all Athletic complexes located with the City of Amarillo.  Employees are responsible for prepping fields, landscape maintenance and cleaning park facilities. Hours may vary and employees must have a flexible schedule. Must be able to work weekends and late nights.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Field & Court Preparation: Dragging fields, chalking, raking, striping fields, moving equipment, checking nets and athletics equipment, assembling equipment etc.

  • Landscape Maintenance: Mowing, weed eating, laying sod, digging, cleaning out flower beds, using blowers, shoveling etc.

  • Cleaning: Picking up trash, cleaning restrooms, power washing etc.

  • Staff Meetings and Training: Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings.

  • Communication: Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors and user groups.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Respond appropriately in emergency situations, ensuring the health and safety of all participants.

  • Travel: May be required to travel to different field locations or other sites within the city using a city vehicle (training will be provided). This may include trips to gather supplies.

  • All other tasks as assigned by the manager.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Transportation: Reliable transportation is required.

  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

  • Must be dependable, with reliable attendance.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Basic safety and emergency protocols

  • Knowledge of small mowing and landscape equipment.

  • Effective verbal and written communication.

  • Professional interaction with the public.

  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.

  • Ability to manage and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather.

  • Ability to use basic hand tools and landscape equipment.

  • Uses all types of janitorial supplies and equipment needed in the performance of their duties. 

  • Requires considerable amount of walking, bending, squatting, etc.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
