
Title: Technology Development Engineer

Focus: Under the general direction of the Technology Development Manager, the Technical Development Engineer will work in labs, pilot plants, and plant facilities to improve our existing products/processes, develop new products, and provide technical support. This role requires the ability to disentangle complex technical matters, handle deal with changing priorities, ambiguity, and occasionally travel to various locations. In addition, you will work with a variety of people at multiple levels inside/outside the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Develop test plans (including statistical design of experiments (DOE)), process designs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), cost estimates, schedules, raw material evaluations and consumptions, and manpower requirements to evaluate and implement new ideas or projects.
- Support business managers and operating facilities in the development of business opportunities by providing technology evaluations, process opportunities and limitations, improvement ideas, and general project support.
- Manage the experimentation and testing of processes and procedures, including laboratory experiments, writing procedures and reports, collection of supporting data and other documentation, and presenting results to various levels of technical background and expertise.
- Work as a resource, both technical and hands-on, throughout the Chlor Alkali locations (both union and non-union plants), which are involved with membrane and diaphragm electrolysis cell operations to assist in solving process and reliability issues.
- Perform all duties in alignment with Olin's quality policy per the ISO9001/RC14001 standards and procedures. Performance of duties includes fostering proactive involvement with all safety training and programs.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Chemical engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an R&D Project Management or Plant Operations environment.
- Ability to develop and execute a continuous improvement methodology with particular emphasis on setting up statistical DOE and six sigma methodology is preferred.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of quality assurance principles/practices, theories, and current methodologies is preferred.
- Candidate must be able to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US driver's license.
- Must be able and willing to travel overnight up to 25% of the time.
- Prior chlor-alkali industry experience in a relevant position preferred.
