Hourly Rate Range: $ 19.50 to $22.50
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing all duties associated with the general care and maintenance of the interior and exterior of the buildings on the main campus and other Linwood properties. This role involves essential repairs and maintenance of our residential group homes, schools, and administrative buildings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts regular inspections of the buildings to identify maintenance and repair needs
- Address and fix issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, painting, drywall, and other repairs as necessary.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment and systems to ensure their longevity.
- Replacing light bulbs, faucets, locks, and other fixtures as needed.
- Keeps the facilities’ exterior clean and in good condition, including walkways, parking lots, and recreational areas.
- Promptly attend to and resolve maintenance requests ensuring tasks are satisfactorily completed.
- Assist with installing new furniture, fixtures, or equipment in the facility group homes.
- Document maintenance and repair work, keeping records up-to-date for future reference, or reporting to the Facilities Manager.
- Work closely with the facilities team, updating them about ongoing maintenance tasks, upcoming repairs, or potential issues that might require attention.
- May be assigned additional duties.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Possess a high school diploma/ GED.
- Minimum of three years of maintenance or construction experience, preferably in a residential setting.
- Must have a valid driver’s MD license and an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency’s insurance carrier and by Agency policy.
- Must know the tools of the trade and have the expertise to use them with the associated tasks with all maintenance duties.
- Basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC skills.
Abilities:
- Must possess a skill set to interact professionally with Linwood staff, parents, students, and other professionals.
- Can work a flexible schedule, nights and weekends on occasion.
- Ability to perform demanding tasks, like lifting or climbing.
- Capability to diagnose and address issues.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, various forms of technology, or controls.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, run, or crawl.
- Must be able to work under regular, moderate levels of stress.
- Must have the physical capabilities to lift and move materials
- Must lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly.
