SUMMARY OF THE JOB: 

Reporting to the Consumer Underwriting Manager, the incumbent is responsible for preparing complete loan packages of all residential loans including conventional and portfolio first mortgages, Government loans, Home Equity loans and Home Equity Credit lines, underwriting files within established guidelines, and ensuring that documents conform to established guidelines. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The Sr. Retail Loan Analyst compiles information and data into a completed loan package.
  • Is thoroughly knowledgeable of Bank and investor guidelines, and verifies that supporting documents and loan applications conform to such guidelines. Products include a wide range of conventional, government, consumer and affordable programs.
  • Performs thorough analyses of credit documentation and appraisals to assess borrowers' credit-worthiness, and assesses collateral risk.
  • Independently handles majority of customer financing requests on all product types.
  • Approves applications within underwriting authority.
  • Controls processing of loan applications from point of origination to approval.
  • Identifies problem situations, and acts proactively to resolve situations by securing additional documentation.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work is completed in a timely efficient manner and that appropriate risk analysis is performed.
  • Ensures compliance with FNMA/FLMC, private investors, CHFA, FHA and Bank underwriting guidelines.
  • Accurately inputs data into origination system, and maintains an up-to-date database.  Ensures the timely and accurate entry of HMDA and CRA data in the origination system.

Will frequently interact with customers, realtors, attorneys, and builders to facilitate information exchange. Counsels branch personnel regarding financing alternatives within policy. Maintains effective working relationships with branch personnel, loan originators, and other internal contacts.  

ACCOUNTABILITIES Primary:

 

Underwriting/ Credit Analysis

1. Approves or rejects loan applications based upon sound underwriting and credit analyses within authority limits and established guidelines.

 

Financial Analysis                

2.Compiles necessary information required to adequately underwrite loan files.

 

Data Input                  

3.Inputs and maintains data in origination system to produce accurate commitment letters and internal reporting.

 

Minimum knowledge/skills:

  • College Degree Preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • Required to have a minimum of three to five years’ loan underwriting experience.
  • Complete understanding of all residential loan types, including but not limited to, conventional products, VA, FHA, CHFA, USDA.
  • Complete understanding of the appraisal review process.
