Job Summary
The position of Process Engineer will create, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing systems, reducing costs while maintaining standards of operations. Assist in the launch of new programs included automated and manual processes to ensure customer production requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Creation, development, implementation or modification of cost-effective manufacturing systems.
- Collaborates with senior engineers or managers to design cost-effective manufacturing layouts and building ergonomics for new product lines.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization’s competitive edge.
- Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions Develops and maintains management information, planning, and control systems.
- Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs.
- Improve current process engineering controls to ensure efficient production processes, compliance with OSHA regulations and customer requirements.
- Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and layouts so that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations are reduced or eliminated.
- Conduct studies of new equipment and machinery, recommending efficient options for improvement.
- Ensure that the OSHA and internal safe operating principles are in place and adhered to.
- Comply with provisions of the OSHA Regulations and Environmental Standards, and take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the employees.
- Assist with ensuring the automation process is functional and efficiently designed.
- Per the IATF16949 requirements, assist with ensuring that the production floor is equipped with proper functioning automation processes and other program designs.
- Participate in the review of processes to continue with improving overall efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Education
- Minimum Required: Certification in Technical skills and/training with emphasis in Engineering
- Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Robotics, Industrial, Manufacturing or similar Engineering field preferred
- Experience
- Minimum Required: 3+ years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- 2+ years working in robotics/automation process
- Preferred: 5+ years engineering experience in automotive manufacturing with robotics/automation.
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Ability to travel internationally
- Strong technical background and a clear understanding of a manufacturing process
- Fluent in English (verbal, reading, writing)
- Experience using a computer
- Preferred: Familiarity with TS16949 or IATF 16949, Quality Audits, and Environmental Management System and OSHA Requirements
- Proven engineering experience in Robotics/Automation in a manufacturing environment
Working Conditions
The following working conditions are present or expected on a daily basis:
- Manufacturing/production floor environment with a presence on the production floor required for at least 20% of daily work time.
- Limited exposure to industrial manufacturing, automotive vehicles, weather elements, chemicals and robotics.
- Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times on the production floor.
