    Secondary Attendance Clerk/Secretary

    Position Purpose
    Under the direct supervision of the principal or other administrator, provides clerical, secretarial and administrative assistance to school administrators at a school site, records daily attendance and support for the broad array of services provided to students, parents, instructional and support employees.


    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist students, parents, staff, and others in a positive manner.
    • Serves as a receptionist, meeting public and staff in a competent and diplomatic manner.
    • Places and receives phone calls and directs calls or messages to proper staff members.
    • Monitors and operates a computer. (Word, Excel, E-mail, Schoolmaster)             
    • Processes demographic and attendance data accurately and according to the established procedure.
    • Produce, format and type documents, reports and correspondence as needed. Editing and revising for clarity and making grammatical changes to the written work of others in the office.  Copy, fax and mail communications.  Operate and maintain office equipment.  Help managers use office software.
    • Setup and maintain files.
    • Prepare State Attendance Reports and submit to proper sources.
    • Handles all incoming and outgoing mail.
    • Schedules appointments, meetings, and conferences as appropriate.  Takes minutes during meetings.
    • Performs liaison activities to promote effective public relations for the office.  Greets and screens office visitors, responds to inquiries, handles complaints, or directs to appropriate persons.
    • Knows and follows school policy and chain of command.
    • Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
    • Reports monthly personnel absences.
    • Performs such school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
