Job Description

About the Department

The American Job Center (AJC) is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals ages 16-24 to join our AJC Internship Program. Interns will gain hands-on experience in the local workforce, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop professional skills that will prepare them for future careers. We encourage those who are eager to get first-time work experience, individuals with justice-involved backgrounds, or anyone who may be facing an obstacle to employment to apply.

Internships are typically 30 hours per week and last around eight weeks.

Example Responsibilities:

  • Assist department staff with day-to-day tasks and projects
  • Conduct research and compile reports
  • Support community programs, facilities, or events
  • Participate in team meetings and/or peer workshops
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Individuals ages 16-24
  • Interest in public service and/or career exploration
  • Willing to learn excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Professional attitude and punctuality
