Description

PeopleService is hiring for a Water/wastewater Operator for Saint James, MO? Not a certified operator, but are mechanically-inclined? PeopleService will give you hands-on training!

Sample Duties Include:

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain various equipment such as blowers, pumps, etc.
  • Monitor meters and gauges and accurately report readings.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, and other work areas.
  • Typically works during the day, in addition to being on-all for a one-week period and perform weekend rounds based on a rotating schedule.
  • Occasionally must respond to after-hour emergencies, such as sewer backups or water main breaks.
  • Will communicate with a variety of audiences - from consumers to regulatory staff; therefore, must provide a high level of customer service and ability to handle situations using tact and diplomacy.
  • Often exposed to unpleasant odors, dangerous gases, malfunctioning equipment, confined spaces, heights and underground, and various weather conditions.

 

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma.
  • Strong mechanical background/knowledge to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Valid driver's license to operate company vehicle, CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour emergency callouts, as well as work on-call for a one-week period including performing weekend rounds. If work the weekend, work schedule allows for a 3-day weekend the following week.
  • Dedicated to becoming certified in wastewater and distribution through home-study coursework and/or training classes.
  • Ability to operate a PC using excel, word, outlook, etc.
