Job Description

Job Title: Facilities Manager

Classification: Exempt/Salary

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Position Type: Full-Time

Hours Worked/Shift: Monday - Friday

SummaryResponsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of both the maintenance department and the environmental services department (EVS). Must be able to plan, organize, supervise, coordinate, and control the activities of the maintenance and EVS departments. Operates and maintains the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition.


Essential Functions

  1. Administers maintenance program to ensure operation and effectiveness of facilities.
  2. Develops, evaluates, and implements departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and standards of work for the maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems. 
  3. Coordinates the repair of equipment or recommends replacement of equipment or facilities as necessary. Report and follow up on all maintenance concerns. Monitor work orders and submit invoices to accounts payable.
  4. Schedules and supervises maintenance work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction and installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.
  5. Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies to maximize the operational readiness of the building systems and equipment.
  6. Responsible for selection and coordination of maintenance service contractors and ensures contractual provisions are met.
  7. Develop annual departmental budget and monitor adopted budget.
  8. Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, evaluates, and coordinates work of staff of both departments.
  9. Negotiate bids, requests for proposals, and contracts with third party workers in compliance with state regulations
  10. Other duties as assigned/required.

  5. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  6. Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift.
  7. Demonstrable basic computer skills as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office

 

 

 

Position Qualifications: 

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred in management or healthcare.


Minimum Experience:  2-3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or equivalent related experience. 

 

Certifications/Licensures: Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Kansas.

 

Working EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
