AmeriServe International is the calling you’ve been looking for, you'll become a coach, a mentor, and a friend. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Caregiver you will learn the skills and coaching techniques to help other adults shape their lives into a picture they once only dreamed of. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Caregiver is responsible for a variety of duties related to the overall care for those who reside in the AmeriServe International Residential Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide transportation to and from activities/appointments.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual plans for individuals and behavior plan goals.
  • Assist individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social and community activities based on their preference and individual plans.
  • Assist and encourage individuals in the establishment of social networks.
  • Promote participation and involvement in community outings.
  • Ensure each individuals rights are protected.
  • Treat individuals with dignity and respect.

Activities of Daily Living:

  • Administer medications to individuals as assigned.
  • Observe individuals for changes in behavior or health.
  • Ensure individuals are dressed neatly and appropriately and are groomed at all times.
  • Assist and encourage individuals to care for immediate personal needs such as toileting, bathing, washing their hands and eating.
  • Prepare nutritional meals based on individual needs and preferences.
  • Encourage individuals to assist in the preparation of meals and snacks as appropriate to their individual plans and behavior plan.
  • Keep residence – both interior and exterior and the resident's personal space clean, organized, and tidy, and encourage them to participate in upkeep as appropriate according to their individual plan.
  • Teach individuals daily skills such as household chores, laundry, cleaning, and washing dishes as appropriate according to their individual plan.

 

Requirements

  • High School diploma preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have valid driver license and provide proof of vehicle insurance
  • Must successfully pass state-mandated background checks and pre-employment screenings
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read and write English at the level needed to read programmatic materials and provide written documentation as required
  • Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with other people
