Job Title: Food Service Helper (Summer 2025) Wage/Hour Status: Hourly
Reports to: Food Service Manager Pay Rate: $15 per hour
Purpose:
Prepare and serve food. Clean and maintain equipment and facilities. Assist other food service workers in the school kitchen as assigned by the CNS Manager/CNPM
Entry Level Skills/Knowledge:
Qualifications:
1. Must be eligible for employment in the United States.
2. Must be a legal resident of the United States.
3. Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English
4. Ability to count and perform simple mathematical calculations
5. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and employees
6. Must have the ability to get along well with others
7. Must have valid food handlers' card or must obtain one within 10 days of hire
8. High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
9. Must have a valid driver's license or ID

1. Exercise's punctuality, dependability, and reliability in the performance of assigned duties
2. Establishes and maintains a good rapport with students, faculty, administration and public
3. Assumes assignments in a positive manner
4. Understands and complies with verbal and or written instructions

7. Must assist in the preparation of the breakfast and lunch meals and serving line
8. Responsible for the security of assigned areas of responsibility
9. Assumes responsibility for safe working conditions and exercises safe working habits
10. Supports all-district local state and Federal regulations as instructed by the CNPM
11. Follow instructions in preparation of meals, portioning, garnishing, and serving
12. Follows safety standards in the preparation, serving, storing and disposal of product served
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare fruits, vegetables, salads and/or beverages as assigned by CNS Manager and/or cook
2. Assist other CNS Workers as assigned by CNS Manager/cook to prepare foods for the cafeteria by performing any combination of the following tasks: Preparation of meats or main dishes including cleaning, cutting, slicing, or cooking meats, poultry, seafood, and cheese; Preparation of breads or baked goods; preparation and serving of other foods; weighing and measuring ingredients; carrying supplies, equipment, and food to and from storage, preparation, and service areas
3. Serve correct portions on serving line or replenish the line
4. Complete production records, inventories, and other documentation and assigned
5. Clean own working area and other areas as assigned
6. Assist in the orientation or training of CNS Workers as assigned
7. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by CNS Manager
Equipment Used:
1. Ovens, range, steam jacketed kettle
2. Braising pan, fryer
3. Mixer, food chopper, meat slicer
4. Ice machine, refrigerator, freezer
5. Dish machine, steam table
6. Knives, and various other food preparation equipment and tools
7. Use of fire suppression equipment located in the cafeteria
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands:
1. Heavy lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)
2. Pushing
3. Reaching within a wide range of motion
4. Use of fingers, hands, arms, and legs
5. Standing and walking (up to 6 hours)
6. Repeated bending
7. Occasional climbing
8. Specific visual requirement (reading instructions, operating the cash register, calculator, computer measuring ingredients and assessing product quality)
9. Taste acuity
10. Ability to distinguish basic colors
11.Specific hearing requirement (hear clearly in a noisy environment)
12. Operation of motor vehicle
13. Must have strength and endurance to withstand any physical activity during working hours
14. Must be mentally and emotionally stable and able to work in a high pressure, high-stress environment, and function well under demands of physically strenuous work, mentally demanding responsibilities and emotionally challenging situations involving food service employees, students, staff, parents, vendors, and others
Environment:
1. Excessive heat and excessive cold

3. Solvents, grease, oils, fumes, and hazardous chemicals

5. Electrical and gas appliances
6. Workaround machinery with moving parts
