Livingston Public Schools is currently accepting applications for Playground Aides at multiple schools. This hourly position ($18.00 per hour) is employed during the school year, typically for 10-15 hours per week during the middle of the school day. This position is not benefit eligible. If a Livingston parent is interested, they are eligible to work at any school other than the one their child attends.
Job Goal: To promote safe play during recess and minimize the risk of injury on the playground.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in the cafeteria and on the playground during lunch and recess periods.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students while they play.
- Maintain visibility around the playground and assist with conflict resolution among students.
- Set up and clean up recess equipment.
- Report unsafe or unsanitary playground conditions to the principal.
- Ensure age-appropriate use of playground equipment.
- Accompany students outdoors for recess in varying weather conditions (as long as temperature is above 25°F and weather is clear.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate.
- Ability to interact positively with students.
- Knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
- Ability to understand and relay policies regarding playground equipment use.
Physical Demands:
- Light lifting (up to 15 lbs.).
- Ability to climb stairs and move playground equipment.
- Ability to stand and circulate for up to 2 hours.
