Job Description

Uvalde Memorial Hospital is seeking a Hospice Director / Administrator to lead the daily operations, clinical oversight, and strategic direction of our Hospice Department. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, compassionate end-of-life care while overseeing compliance, staffing, budgeting, quality improvement, and community outreach.



The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader and experienced Registered Nurse who can guide hospice services with compassion, accountability, and a clear focus on regulatory compliance, patient care excellence, and team development.



Responsibilities include:




  • Directing the day-to-day operations of the Hospice Department

  • Overseeing patient care delivery and supporting high standards of hospice services

  • Providing clinical leadership and ensuring care aligns with hospice philosophy and interdisciplinary plans of care

  • Maintaining compliance with state and federal hospice regulations and keeping policies and procedures current

  • Developing departmental goals, strategic plans, and performance improvement initiatives

  • Managing staffing, scheduling, hiring, orientation, training, evaluations, and disciplinary processes

  • Monitoring departmental budget, billing reconciliation, medication discrepancies, and charge-related processes

  • Supporting communication among staff, patients, and families to ensure coordinated care

  • Serving as a liaison between hospice, hospital leadership, physicians, agencies, and the community

  • Representing hospice services at community events, professional meetings, and outreach activities

  • Participating in committees and completing required hospice administrative training



Qualifications:




  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas required.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

  • Completion of 16 hours of hospice-specific administrative education within 12 months of hire required.

  • Two years of hospice administration experience preferred.

  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
