POSITION SUMMARY

The Physician – Urgent Care is responsible for providing high quality health care services to Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW) members. The Physician is specialized in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics and is able to see the full age range of patients.   The Physician – Urgent Care provides a wide range of evaluation, management, and procedural services to GHC-SCW members and fee-for-service patients requesting care.  The Physician – Urgent Care serves under the general supervision and direction of the Clinic Medical Director with additional accountabilities to the Senior Medical Director.  The Physician – Urgent Care is expected to use his/her professional judgment in making recommendations to patients for their personal medical care.

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Current, unrestricted Wisconsin State Licensure as a Physician in Family Medicine or Combined Medicine/Pediatrics is required.
  2. Completion of a residency in Family Medicine or Med-Peds or comparable experience required.  Required to become Board Certified within six (6) months of employment.
  3. Knowledge and/or experience in managed health care delivery.
  4. Ability to maintain currency in area of expertise in in respective field of specialty.
  5. Current, unrestricted and valid Federal Controlled Substance registration (DEA) Certificate.
  6. Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate is required. Employee must obtain certification within four (4) months of employment.
  7. Medical management skills such as team building, HR management including conflict management, performance appraisal, coaching, and utilization management techniques or the willingness to acquire through job training.
  8. Ability to work within a team concept.        
  9. Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills in order to project a professional image to interact courteously and effectively with patients, the public, staff and others.
  10. Excellent customer skills.  Ability to be culturally sensitive and to work with a diverse patient population.
  11. Ability to provide leadership and to delegate.
  12. Ability to read and interpret various medical reports and/or results.
  13. Ability to use computers and related software such as Microsoft Office Suite.  Ability to use and/or learn electronic medical record systems such as EPIC. 
  14. Ability to learn and maintain currency with GHC-SCW and University of Wisconsin Hospitals & Clinics (UWHC) policies and procedures.
  15. Ability to maintain strict patient, proprietary and employee confidentiality. Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
  16. Ability to prioritize and organize a diverse workload.
  17. Ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours per/day.
  18. Ability to bend, stoop, twist, assist patient in turning; assist patient in arising from exam table.
  19. Ability to see at near, mid and far range.
  20. Ability to speak and hear in person and on the telephone.
  21. Ability to perform fingering and handling with both hands.
  22. Ability to push wheelchair patients. Ability to assist patient in rising from and returning to wheelchair.
