About the Job:

If dance is your passion and teaching is your calling, this role hits the sweet spot. As a Dance Instructor with the Champaign Park District’s Dance Arts School, you’ll bring movement, creativity, and structure together—guiding students of all ages and skill levels while helping shape a positive, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment. You won’t just teach steps; you’ll help build confidence, discipline, and joy through dance.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Teach high-quality dance classes to participants of varying ages and skill levels
  • Assist with planning and implementing dance curriculum, classes, rehearsals, and performances
  • Demonstrate and instruct proper dance techniques, movements, and physical skills
  • Schedule and lead rehearsals in preparation for performances
  • Maintain accurate attendance, records, and required documentation
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and staff
  • Provide feedback and evaluations to the Dance Arts Supervisor
  • Maintain and care for dance equipment and supplies
  • Uphold all Park District safety policies and confidentiality standards
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings
  • Complete time sheets, incident reports, and other administrative tasks on time
  • Administer First Aid and/or CPR when needed, within certification scope
  • Lift and transport equipment (up to 50 lbs) as required

Qualification

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum of 10 years of intensive, continuous dance training
  • Experience teaching or working with children, youth, and/or adults in a structured instructional setting
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in dance or dance instruction
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends based on class and performance schedules
  • Ability to meet physical demands of dance instruction
