Special Education Teacher for ESY

Broad Function:

  • Summer 2026 Extended School Year (ESY) Special Education Teacher


  • High needs elementary (anticipate 5-6 positions) 
    • July 6-July 31, 2026, Monday-Friday 8:45-12:15 


  • High needs secondary (anticipate 2 positions)
    • July 6-July 31, 2026, Monday-Friday 8:45-12:15


  • Elementary academic (anticipate 5-6 positions) and PreK (anticipate 2 positions)
    • July 6-July 30, 2026, Monday through Thursday 8:45-11:15 


  • Transition (1 position)
    • July 6-July 30, 2026, Monday through Thursday 8:15-1:15


  • Please note: Monday July 6 will have an early start time of 7:45AM. A 1 hour collaboration time is scheduled for review of IEPs/BIPs/support plans/medical plans/specific student needs with all ESY staff prior to student arrival.

Prep Time: June 29-July 2, 2026- up to 4 hours during this week- specific days/times buildings will be open TBD


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide direct individual, small group and/or large group instruction to address students’ IEP goals/objectives
  • Differentiate instruction
  • Establish a productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students are respected
  • Supervise safe arrival and dismissal of all students assigned to their classroom.
  • Maintain timely student attendance and progress records
  • Consult with related service providers to address student needs
  • Provide students, families, site coordinators and program staff with relevant and timely data, including monitoring and reporting students progress
  • Care for program materials and resources
  • Engage as a partner in planning and problem solving
  • Oversee paraprofessionals assigned to ESY classroom
  • Performs other related duties as requested by the ESY Coordinator or Supervisor of Pupil Services and Special Education

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Applicants must hold certification in Special Education.  
  • Current experience working with students demonstrating a range of academic and social learning needs is preferred.  

Applicants must be committed to working the entire ESY session.

Salary and Compensation:

  • $44.29/hour

  • Ability to hear normal sounds with background noise, as in using a telephone or radio, distinguish verbal communication and communicate through speech, including using a radio
  • Ability to learn and acquire an understanding of new information, methodologies and techniques and how they apply to school goals and operations
  • Memory adequate to perform tasks/assignments given over long periods of time
  • Ability to concentrate on a task for more than 60 minutes
