Job Description

Primary Function:
Serves as the educational leader and chief administrator of the Junior/Senior High School. Is responsible for
implementing and managing the policies, regulations, and procedures of the Board of Education to ensure that
all students are supervised in a safe child-centered learning environment that meets and exceeds the State
Core Curriculum Content Standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school. Achieving
academic excellence requires that the Junior/Senior High School Principal work collaboratively to lead and
nurture all members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents, members of the
community, and colleagues in other districts and schools. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for
planning, curriculum development, program evaluation, extracurricular activities, personnel management,
financial management, emergency procedures, resource scheduling, and facilities operations.
Relationship to Student Achievement:
Provides a comprehensive high school program that prepares students to transition to post-secondary
education or work setting.

Superintendent of Schools
Desired Qualifications:
? Hold or eligible for a Colorado Administrator's license: Professional Principal.
? Masters Degree Education.
? Successful teaching experience.
? Previous experience as Activities Director.
? Effective verbal and written communication skills.
? Leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
? Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, parents, and community.
? Knowledge of basic elements of instruction, curriculum, and assessment.
? Knowledge of effective employee supervision and evaluation procedures and techniques.
? Knowledge of curriculum concepts and materials.
? Knowledge of effective and appropriate teaching strategies, curricular programs and materials.
? Knowledge of effective student disciplinary and control procedures and practices.


Job Goals:
The Junior/Senior High School Principal will provide top-tier leadership and align all school resources with
school improvement priorities to ensure students are well prepared to transition to a post secondary
education or work setting.

Performance responsibilities:


? Promote collaborative problem solving and open communication.
? Collect, analyze, and use data to identify school needs.
? Use data to identify and plan for needed changes in instructional programs.
? Implement and monitor a school improvement plan
? Use systems thinking to establish a clear focus on attaining student achievement goals.
? Implement the philosophy, goals, objectives and curriculum as identified by Board policy.
? Interpret and apply state, county and school district laws, regulations, policies and procedures at the
school.
? Responsible for the total operation of all phases of the school program and facilities including activities
and athletics.
? Serve as district officer in communication between central administration and teachers and classified
employees in the school.
? Assist with the Special Education Director in ensuring the special education students are successful.
? Plan, supervise and direct the fiscal operations of the school as outlined by district policies.
? Help identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping
pupils meet academic standards.
? Direct and supervise the articulation program with the elementary school.
? Supervise all aspects of the instructional program following the established curriculum of the district.
? Supervise the construction and implementation of the master schedule for the entire campus.
? Evaluate all management and school-wide non-management staff and assist in the evaluation of other
staff.
? Make recommendations to the Superintendent with regard to the selection or retention, transfer,
promotion, and dismissal of personnel.
? Supervise in-service and curriculum development activities at the site.
? Work with parents and school-related organizations in maintaining positive school-community
relations.
? Provide for the effective operation of the school accountability committee and other parent/school
committees.
? Other.
Terms of Employment/Pay
? 220 days (excluding holidays and vacation time)
? Minimum $86,242.00 - 106,165 D.O.E.
Evaluations:
Performance of this job will be based on the board’s policy on evaluation.
