SUMMARY

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) is seeking an energetic Agricultural Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator to recruit prospective students and promote opportunities in agriculture and natural resources. The Agricultural Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator serves as the primary coordinator for CASNR's student recruitment and outreach initiatives. This position plays a critical role by actively engaging prospective students and introducing them to the opportunities available through CASNR programs. Through dynamic recruitment events, school visits, outreach programming, and innovative communication strategies, this position helps build a strong pipeline of future students while promoting the excitement and career potential of modern agriculture and natural resources. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dean, Department Head, faculty, and student organizations to increase enrollment, enhance student engagement, and support the college’s recruitment and retention efforts. The position operates under the general supervision of the Dean. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students, presenting to groups, traveling to outreach events, and promoting opportunities in agriculture and natural resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies designed to increase undergraduate enrollment in programs within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR).
  • Represent CASNR at recruitment events, including high school visits, college fairs, community college transfer events, and agricultural youth activities such as FFA and 4-H programs.
  • Plan and support major recruitment and outreach events, including Mane Event, State FFA Convention, 4-H Round-Up, Homecoming, Career Development Events (CDEs), Leadership Development Events (LDEs), and related activities that promote CASNR programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with agricultural educators and school partners, including agricultural science teachers, school counselors, and administrators, to strengthen the recruitment pipeline for CASNR.
  • Develop and manage recruitment communications, including outreach presentations, recruitment materials, and digital engagement through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.
  • Coordinate administrative aspects of recruitment and outreach activities, including travel logistics, outreach event planning, assisting with monitoring expenditures related to recruitment travel and outreach activities, and tracking participation metrics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in an agriculture discipline or related field.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two years of related experience. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to engage effectively with prospective students, educators, faculty, staff, and community members. Ability to organize events, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using digital communication tools and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and website content platforms (such as WordPress or similar platforms) for outreach and recruitment communication.
  • Licensing / Professional Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required to support recruitment events, outreach programs, livestock shows, and student engagement activities.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in an agriculture-related discipline preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and maintain a high level of enthusiasm and professionalism when representing CASNR.
  • Experience in student recruitment, outreach programming, and event coordination.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to audiences, including students, educators, and community groups.
  • Experience with student leadership programs and/or campus engagement initiatives.
  • Experience with agricultural youth organizations such as FFA or 4-H.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS

May provide coordination or guidance to student workers.
