Job Description

Position Summary(Basic Job Function)


This a temporary or on-call position. Provides a wide variety of consulting services including conference, seminar or workshop design/presentation; operations review and analysis; project design, completion, coordination or management; or related consulting services. Consultants paid on grant funds must be paid on an hourly or daily basis, with a minimum wage of $12.00 per hour. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.


Unit Position Summary


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide strategic analysis and informed recommendations to support the establishment and growth of the National Security Institute (NSI), including identifying and securing funding opportunities for research and educational programs.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with U.S. defense and intelligence agencies to ensure alignment of NSI initiatives with national priorities, and establish an NSI external advisory board composed of distinguished senior leaders.

  • Design and implement an NSI outreach strategy to support the development of a Professional Military Education (PME) curriculum at MSU.

  • Collaborate with existing MSU master’s degree programs to enhance and integrate offerings that support the NSI’s educational mission, particularly for PME participants.

  • Identify, recruit, and coordinate distinguished speakers for a Distinguished Speaker seminar series focused on national security.

  • Advanced academic background in international relations or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing advanced Professional Military Education (PME) courses and related academic programming.

  • Prior service within U.S. government defense, intelligence, or State Department organizations is highly desirable.
