POSITION SUMMARY
The Automation Control Engineer assists the Maintenance Manager and Engineering team on creating the layout of electrical and mechanical control system to include modifying existing plc programs and control systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the development of a company's automation projects from both a technical perspective and through business intelligence and expertise.
Conduct verification tests to confirm machine performance and adherence to control design specifications.
Defines areas where introducing automation could improve production and efficiency.
Provides technical support in relation to automated systems when necessary.
Assist with updates, modifications, and continuous improvement of existing controls systems including robotic programs, ladder logic programs, relay logic, electrical distribution, motor controls, operator interface, hydraulics, and pneumatics distribution and control.
Maintains the upkeep of process control computers, software licensing agreements, and backups of software files to minimize the downtime of manufacturing equipment.
Follow safety policy and procedures including, but not limited to, lock out-tag-out, hot work permit and confined spaced.
Uphold and participate in all Corporate Responsibility programming including recycling, social advocacy and MMAD volunteering opportunities.
This position has responsibilities essential to Food Safety.

QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related electrical/software technical field required
5 years of experience with Automation
Solid understanding of computer programming and software development is critical.
Experience in PLC, HMI, SQL, Vision Systems, robots, and Microsoft office computer and software.
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), tags, and symbols.
Some experience in design aspects of P&IDs, instrument ISA data sheets, instrument installation details, low voltage wiring, physical conduit routing and cable tray design, loop diagrams, and wiring diagrams and schematics including motor control.
Capable to work both independently and as part of a larger group.
Preference given to those with work experience using Siemens Step 7, Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000, Ladder Logic.
