Looking for a fun, flexible job where you can make a real difference? Join our YMCA aquatics team as a Part-Time Swim Instructor and help swimmers of all ages gain confidence, skills, and a lifelong love of the water!

  • Lead engaging swim lessons for children and/or adults of all skill levels

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment

  • Help participants build water safety skills and confidence

  • Bring energy, patience, and positivity to every class

  • Work a flexible, part-time schedule (great for students or second jobs!)

POSITION SUMMARY 



Instructor Aquatics, working as part of the Aquatics team, will deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The individual will be responsible for providing a safe swim instruction for participants.  The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 




  • Always maintain pool safety during swimming lessons; deliver lessons that provide students the best opportunity to acquire skills for their level  

  • Educate participants on pool rules and enforce rules as required  

  • Remain current on all CPR, First Aid and other safety certification training  

  • Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately using proper forms  

  • Be visible to members at all times-work towards branch membership retention goals  

  • Keep daily attendance records and complete level skill sheets   

  • Be in the water 50-100% of class time  

  • Communicate with all participants/parents if class is being cancelled and/or rescheduled    

  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans
