The purpose of the position is to assist with the supervision of seasonal employees assigned to the pool and to maintain the pool and surrounding areas. This is accomplished by supervising staff, enforcing rules, directing pool activities, and maintaining the pool. Other duties include working with citizens and supervising special events, classes and activities.

Position Duties

  • Assists in supervising and coordinating activities of the swimming pool staff to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers and assigns duties to all Lifeguards; 
  • Assists in supervising the maintenance and clean-up of the swimming pool and related facilities; 
  • Conducts swimming classes and assists with class scheduling; 
  • Ensures that all Lifeguards maintain a safety orientation during all aspects of their working day;
  • Using the testing kit to perform chemical maintenance of the swimming pool as necessary, including determining chlorine content, PH value, and color of pool water at regular intervals during the day;
  • Monitors swimming pool and all related facilities during assigned shifts to ensure and enforce safety codes and standards and prevent injuries and fatalities; and
  • Performs other assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of experience as a lifeguard
  • Minimum age of 18

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials
  • Ability to accurately count monies
  • Ability to obtain Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications, CPR and First Aid Certifications prior to hire date
  • Skill in the operation and use of standard Microsoft products
