Job Description

Hyde Park Schools seeks to hire a Lower School Teacher (3rd-5th grade) for the 2026-27 school year, who are passionate about uniquely engaging their students, who connect strongly with them and their families, and who want to be part of a team that is continually seeking to strengthen and encourage each other. Teachers are expected to incorporate a biblical worldview in classroom instruction in order to encourage students to reach their God-given potential. 

Highly qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in education and a minimum of one full year classroom teaching experience. A Texas state issued teacher certification in the appropriate area or grade level, including Science of Teaching Reading (STR). 

Salary is based on a scale and is commensurate with your experience.

Requirements

  •  Primary responsibility for the homeroom class of approximately 15 students
  • Work closely with partner teachers using a block teaching approach for three classes of core instruction each day (ELA, Math or Science/Social Studies)
  • Engage students in their learning through expressive language, visual demonstrations, and hands-on opportunities using best practice techniques and the integration of technology
  • Collaborate with colleagues on horizontal and vertical curriculum planning and cross-curricular learning opportunities
  • Encourage and support student participation in class discussions, group projects, and individual assignments
  • Incorporate differentiated instruction into classroom learning opportunities with a focus on each child’s unique learning style and development
  • Assess student learning through the use of both informal and formal formative and summative assessments
  • Maintain a physical classroom environment that is visually engaging, well-organized, encourages learning, and is free from distractions
  • Guide students in their social-emotional development with a focus on developing self-management, making good choices, and setting well-defined classroom and schoolwide expectations
  • Promote a biblical worldview in the classroom
  • Foster healthy parent communication through email correspondence and phone calls, classroom newsletters or webpage, and parent/teacher conferences
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues and administrators, which include both constructive feedback  and mentoring of others
  • Attend weekly chapel service with students
  • Attend training in Responsive Classroom practices and begin each day with a morning meeting
