Production Artist

Full-time, non-exempt

Reports to: Props Supervisor

Overview

Otherworld Philadelphia is a one-of-a-kind immersive art and entertainment experience that blends large-scale installations, storytelling, and interactive technology. As part of Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group’s nationwide portfolio, Otherworld invites guests to explore surreal environments brought to life through imagination and innovation.

We are seeking a full-time Production Artist to support the preservation and expansion of the exhibit’s scenic elements – specifically focusing on props, sets, textiles, and scenic finishes. This role plays a critical part in both maintaining the integrity of current installations and helping bring new creative visions to life. The Production Artist reports to the Props Supervisor.

The ideal candidate has a background in prop building, set design, painting, sewing, or fabrication, and a passion for immersive storytelling. The Production Artist works closely with the Props Supervisor and the broader Exhibits department, contributing to new installations, executing repairs and preventative maintenance, and supporting the overall evolution of the space.

Responsibilities

Scenic Repairs & Maintenance

  • Maintain and repair scenic elements, props, set pieces, and artwork throughout the exhibition.

  • Conduct regular inspections and contribute to the development of preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Perform in-show repairs and updates, keeping relevant teams informed of progress and timelines.

  • Assist with organizing and managing the workshop and materials inventory.

  • Ensure scenic elements maintain their visual quality and functionality during operating hours and events.

Operational Support

  • Assist with daily facility readiness in collaboration with the technical and operations teams.

  • Ensure all scenic elements and infrastructure are functioning properly and meet both operational and aesthetic standards.

  • Monitor and manage inventory of materials, tools, hardware, supplies, and PPE for ongoing repair and production needs.

  • Adhere to company protocols for exhibit opening, closing, and daily operations.

  • Submit all internal paperwork accurately and on time.

  • Support the broader team as needed; Exhibits is one part of a larger operation, and success at Otherworld depends on everyone working together and pitching in when needed.

Creative Collaboration

  • Contribute to the design and installation of new exhibits and enhancements.

  • Work closely with the Props Supervisor and Exhibits team to prototype and fabricate original scenic pieces.

  • Ensure scenic elements align with Otherworld’s creative direction, safety standards, and guest experience goals.

  • Bring fresh ideas and problem-solving skills to support innovation and continuous improvement.
