Job Description

Job description

A&O Shearman is a new global industry-leading law firm, with 48 offices in 28 countries worldwide.

Our fluency in English law, US law, and the laws of the world’s most dynamic markets, enables us to provide unmatched insight and seamless delivery to clients. We work on challenging and important deals and disputes that have the potential to shape the future.

We offer exceptional opportunities for our people; opportunities to work for the world’s leading businesses; to transform the status quo, and to deliver your best work, helping you and your career to thrive, while delivering unparalleled outcomes for our clients.

Whether you're helping clients solve complex challenges, transforming the ways we manage our business, or ensuring the smooth-running of our operations, this is an environment where you can belong and excel. We provide first-rate training and development, we are committed to an inclusive environment, and we provide support and ways of working that help you optimise your wellbeing.

What truly defines a career with us? We recruit the best and ask for the best of you. And together, we will redefine success.

Department Purpose and Structure
With a deep bench, our U.S. litigation practice provides clients with a full-service offering counselling on matters, including complex commercial disputes, financial institutions litigation, regulatory and white-collar defense, antitrust, internal investigations and special investigations for boards, securities litigation, corruption investigations and litigation related to issues of regulatory compliance, intellectual property and professional liability.

Our distinguished U.S. litigation and investigations team is comprised of expert professionals with a wealth of government experience, as well as experience litigating and trying cases in a wide variety of areas, with a special emphasis on federal criminal and regulatory matters. Many of our enforcement partners have served in senior positions in the government or regulatory agencies, giving us a unique perspective on how best to navigate regulatory and enforcement activity across a variety of sectors. We also have broad experience in corporate risk and conflict management, advising senior level board members and executives of substantial corporates and financial institutions.

One of our key differentiators in the U.S. is the truly integrated nature of the advice we give, and our U.S. litigation and investigations team is at the forefront of the cross-border expertise that makes A&O Shearman stand out from its global competitors. One of the biggest challenges facing clients in the U.S. is that multiple regulators are often involved in parallel regulatory investigations and enforcement actions. Successfully managing risks arising from this scrutiny requires a deep understanding of both the technical legal requirements of multiple jurisdictions, the investigative methods used by government regulators and criminal prosecutors, and the practical concerns of our clients. Our U.S. team, working with colleagues across the globe, has the skills and experience to help clients resolve problems that arise within the context of cross-border and domestic regulatory and criminal investigations.
