Duties

Sales Store Checkers work in a military grocery store. The work is like a cashier or clerk at your local grocery or retail store.,Receiving change fund.,Operating a cash register scanning system to list and total the prices of individual items purchased, including determining proper prices by scanning, price look-up, unit marking, or referring to price lists.,Collecting payment, assuring validity of cash items accepted, and making correct change when required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: Students who are eligible for participation in the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) Pathways Intern Program Positions are open to current students pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled). Short-term training programs (e.g., several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study. Internship for current students in good standing at an accredited education. Position is Temporary not to exceed Not to Exceed 90 days or Not to Exceed Sep 30, 2026, whichever comes first. In order to qualify you must first meet the Internship Program eligibility: 1. Student Status: Current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate, including certain home-school curricula. Individuals must be taking at least a half-time academic course load. "Half-time" is defined by the school in which the student is enrolled. 2. Grade Point Average: You must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher each semester. Secondly, you must meet the education requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Pathways Internship Positions: GS-01 LEVEL: Enrollment in a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) program. For more information on qualifications please refer to OPM's Qualifications Standards. *Must be enrolled (or accepted for enrollment) in an accredited school on at least a half-time basis. *Proof of enrollment reflecting your Spring 2026 status (includes transcripts, class schedule, or acceptance letter). Proof of future enrollment required upon entrance on duty. NOTE: If your college, vocational, trade, technical or high schools' definition of "academic year" differs from above, you must submit proof of this difference (e.g., copy of course catalog that defines an academic year). Absent this documentation, you will screened for academic qualifications based on the academic hours as defined in the bullets above. Education

This position has an education requirement. You MUST submit dated documentation showing current enrollment in a qualifying institution (e.g. letter from the registrar, unofficial transcripts from current semester) by the closing date of the announcement. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Students who are homeschooled must have completed 70% of their high school studies at the time of application as demonstrated on school transcript. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
