Job Description

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing complex accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role serves as a key contributor to financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, while also mentoring junior accounting staff and partnering with cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports to support management decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with external audits, internal audits, and tax filings by preparing supporting schedules and documentation
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes through variance analysis and financial modeling
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and system efficiencies
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting issues and provide guidance to staff accountants
  • Mentor and review the work of junior accounting team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Payroll, Operations, and HR

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial analysis
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA-eligible preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring accounting staff
  • Experience in audit, tax, or compliance support
