Job Description
Overview
The Fleet Service Advisor coordinates, leads, advises, and supports fleet maintenance, management, and care services for the City fleet. Oversees, assists, and advises workers on service parts and materials, maintenance requirements, and the delivery of services to facilitate effective fleet operations.
Essential Functions
1 Advises, counsels, and assists with the activities staff providing services; provides mechanical and servicing knowledge to assist and deliver excellent customer service and parts management and maintain vehicles according to maintenance and servicing standards.
2 Monitors servicing and maintenance records, inventory, and reporting for assigned location to ensure proper internal controls and effective services; maintains data and information on all servicing activities and assists in the prevention of errors.
3 Supports and gives counsel regarding purchasing requirements for effective servicing; ensures orders maintain adequate levels of inventory for efficient maintenance and service delivery for fleet vehicles and equipment.
4 Reviews purchase orders, price agreements, direct pay and office services orders to ensure documents are correct and accurate.
5 Inspects operations and performs services as needed; demonstrates knowledge and skill in delivering various services for fleet vehicles; assists lower level staff with challenging or complex servicing issues and resolves concerns to limit impact on fleet use.
6 Resolves complaints related to materials and problems with departmental employees, customers and vendors in accordance with departmental guidelines.
7 Recommends changes in policies and procedures for storeroom and warehouse activities.
8 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
9 Performs state mandated inspections to ensures appropriate work is completed
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of fleet management services, maintenance, and parts.
2 Knowledge of maintenance records, tracking maintenance, and managing fleet services.
3 Knowledge of supply room methods and practices.
4 Ability to counsel and advise other staff on maintenance and services for fleet.
5 Ability to plan and coordinate services with minimal impact to fleet.
6 Ability to read, write, and speak English; do simple math.
7 Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
8 Ability to use technically oriented parts catalogs and reference manuals.
9 Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
10 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of customer service experience in automotive parts/repair industry which involved service scheduling, complaint resolution and heavy phone contact.
EQUIVALENCIES:
Certification or license in Automotive/Truck Technology will substitute for 1 year of the required education and experience.
LICENSE and CERTIFICATION:
Valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record.
ASE Certification (C-1) must be obtained within the six (6) month probationary period.
Salary Range
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
