Job Description:

THIS OPPORTUNITY

Egis is seeking a Bridge Department Manager to lead the design group in our Indianapolis, IN office. This position will oversee a diverse, talented team of structural engineers—managing workload, providing mentorship, and supporting career development and growth opportunities.

This role will contribute to expanding our bridge engineering practice within the Indiana market while also supporting our national bridge program. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on bridge projects across the country, ranging from conventional grade separations to complex highway interchanges and major river crossings.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Serve as the Lead Structural Engineer or Project Manager on transportation projects involving bridges, retaining walls, and culverts.

· Perform quality assurance reviews on advanced structural analyses, complex bridge projects, and bridge inspections.

· Mentor and guide design team members, junior engineers, and technicians.

· Provide technical oversight and perform quality checks on project deliverables.

· Coordinate with other disciplines on multi‑discipline transportation projects.

· Monitor productivity and technical proficiency of assigned personnel.

· Track the quality and progress of structural work to ensure production requirements are met.

· Prepare structural scopes of work.

· Develop work plans and schedules.

· Support business development activities as needed.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills.

· Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.

· 10+ years of bridge design and analysis experience.

· Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Experience with steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete design.

· Proficiency with bridge analysis software such as LARSA 4D and/or CSI Bridge, and familiarity with Bentley CAD tools preferred.

· Working knowledge of various state Bridge Design Manuals.
