Under the general supervision of the Housekeeping Manager, this position works as part of a custodial team to perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties across various campus facilities. The role ensures a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine custodial duties including cleaning and maintaining floors, furniture, fixtures, walls, and windows
  • Clean floors using brooms, dust mops, wet mops, vacuums, and other equipment
  • Strip, wax, polish, and burnish floors using power scrubbers, automatic floor machines, and burnishers
  • Shampoo rugs and carpets using extractors
  • Wash walls, windows, and other hard surfaces
  • Empty trash and transport waste to dumpsters; collect and transport multi-stream recycling to designated toters
  • Dust furniture, equipment, and other surfaces
  • Assist with moving tables, chairs, and other furniture as needed
  • Open and secure buildings as assigned
  • Report equipment malfunctions, building repair needs, and safety concerns
  • Report evidence of fire, illegal entry, theft, or other unusual conditions
  • Assist with maintaining custodial supplies, stock, and inventory
  • Work overtime or varying schedules as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of standard safety practices
  • Skill in the operation of custodial and cleaning equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and understand common workplace vocabulary
  • Ability to use whole numbers for basic measurements and calculations
  • Ability to lift and carry between 30 and 100 pounds
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and/or near or with hazardous materials
  • Willingness to work overtime and various hours as assigned
  • Must hold a current Ohio driver’s license

This is a Communications Workers of America union position. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications
