Job Description

Position: Public Transit Coordinator

Department: Operations
Reports To: Transportation Manager
Location: On-site (local travel may be required) – Denver, Colorado

Role Summary

MediDrive is seeking a Public Transit Coordinator to support the integration and optimization of public transit solutions within the Colorado Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) program. This role is responsible for coordinating with regional transit authorities, promoting appropriate use of fixed-route transportation, and ensuring members have access to safe, cost-effective transit options when clinically appropriate. The Public Transit Coordinator plays a key role in reducing transportation costs while improving member independence and access to care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Public Transit Integration & Coordination: Collaborate with local and regional transit authorities across Colorado to integrate public transportation options into the NEMT program. Support alignment with HCPF requirements and program guidelines.
  • Transit Utilization Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to increase appropriate utilization of public transit, including fixed-route bus and rail services, for eligible members.
  • Member Support & Navigation: Assist members in understanding and navigating public transit systems, including routes, schedules, transfers, and accessibility accommodations.
  • Education & Outreach: Provide education to members, case managers, and healthcare facilities on the availability and benefits of public transit options. Conduct outreach sessions to promote utilization.
  • Pass Distribution & Coordination: Coordinate the distribution and management of transit passes, vouchers, or fare programs in alignment with program requirements.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve member or provider concerns related to public transit services, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as transit utilization rates, cost savings, member satisfaction, and on-time performance.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on transit usage trends, opportunities for optimization, and program performance to leadership.
  • Partnership Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with transit agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders across Colorado to enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure all activities align with Medicaid regulations, ADA requirements, and MediDrive policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Operations, Network, and Clinical teams to ensure appropriate mode assignment and coordination of care.
  • Additional Duties: Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in transportation coordination, dispatching, logistics, or call center operations.
  • Experience in NEMT, Medicaid transportation, or public transit systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with Colorado transit systems and regional transportation authorities is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of fixed-route transit, accessibility considerations, and member eligibility criteria preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel locally as needed.
