Job Description

St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School (STA) in Hammond, Louisiana, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Math Teacher (Algebra II, Algebra III, and/or Geometry) for the 2026–2027 academic year. Based on the candidate’s expertise and experience, this position may also include teaching additional math courses.

Position Overview

The Chemistry Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging, rigorous instruction aligned with school, diocesan, and state standards while supporting the mission of Catholic education. The ideal candidate is passionate about science education, student-centered learning, and fostering both academic excellence and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  • Teach high school Algebra II, Algebra III, and/or Geometry; additional Math courses may be assigned based on qualifications
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans and assessments
  • Create a positive, faith-filled, and academically challenging classroom environment
  • Collaborate with the science department and faculty on curriculum development
  • Support students’ academic and spiritual development
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math or a related field or relevant teaching experience (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Louisiana preferred but not required
  • Experience teaching high school science preferred
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
