A typical day for a varsity football coach is a mix of teaching, mentoring, and
preparation. The coach runs a structured practice, emphasizing fundamentals,
conditioning, and team strategy, while also teaching players discipline and
teamwork. The coach manages communication with parents, coordinates with
other coaches on game plans, and monitors players’ academic performance and
behavior. On game days, the coach prepares the team mentally and tactically,
ensuring every player understands their role. The day often ends late, with
post-game reflections, reviewing film, and planning for the next practice—all part of
building not just a team, but young men of character, in addition to implementing the
expectations of the overall athletic program of Pennfield Schools and the varsity
football program.
- Participate in all fall coaches meetings in preparation of the
season.
- Teach fundamental skills, strategies, concepts and conditioning
expectations within the structure of the MHSAA and Pennfield
Schools guidelines.
- Organize and direct daily practices to promote the development of
student-athletes in the sport of football.
- Follow all MHSAA and Pennfield High School coaching guidelines
in the development and implementation of high school football
program expectations.
- Oversee all levels of the football program including freshman, and
junior varsity teams.
- Distribute and collect uniforms of all team members.
- Manage and care for all football equipment and facilities.
- Ensure all uniforms are returned and stored immediately following
the conclusion of the football season.

Varsity Football Coach

The varsity football coach will work at the Pennfield Schools athletic
facilities and buildings. We have a strong sense of pride in Pennfield and
our athletic program, therefore it will be expected that you work to instill
these qualities in the student-athletes involved in varsity football.
● Preference maybe given to Pennfield school district employees
● Experience coaching the sport of football at the high school level or
beyond is desired
● Experience playing the sport of football at the high school level or beyond
is desired
● Must be CPR certified prior to the beginning of the fall season
● Background check and fingerprinting must be completed
● May require completion of CAP I or II course before fall season
● Additional responsibilities may be requested by the athletic director
- Compensation: Schedule B position, based on Teacher contract scale
