Job Description

Due to continued rapid growth and an anticipated expansion of our construction operations in the second half of 2026, ColonialWebb is seeking a high-impact Construction Controller to join our finance team. This role is ideal for a proactive, strategic finance leader with strong construction or project-based accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The right candidate brings both technical expertise and the ability to influence operational leaders, helping drive informed decisions and scalable success.

A day in the life:

  • Actively engage in monthly cost to complete reviews for projects
  • Prepare monthly percentage of completion reporting, ensuring it reflects profit adjustments agreed in the cost to complete reviews for projects (and) ensuring that revenue is recognized in accordance with company policies and GAAP
  • Work with Project Managers and Preconstruction to obtain and maintain monthly work in place forecast
  • Supervise, coach, and develop direct reports
  • Develop and deliver reporting and dashboards to aid understanding
  • Review reported information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Assist the CFO with business improvement projects
  • Acting in the interest of the Company and using independent judgment, this position has authority over and recommends hires, transfers, suspensions, layoffs, recalls, promotions, discharges, assignments, rewards, and discipline over assigned teammates
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • In concert with Service Controller:
  1. Ensure that ColonialWebb accurately reports its financial position and results of operations
  2. Manage the Financial Planning-Analysis and General Accounting functions
  3. Own the month-end and year-end close processes within stated deadlines
  4. Ensure maintenance of and continuous improvement of internal controls and business processes
  5. Prepare financial reports for internal and upstream reporting  
  6. Manage journal entries, accruals etc. and reconcile accounts for monthly closing
  7. Own the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes
  8. Participate in the annual audit
  9. Ensure compliance with payroll tax, sales tax and other compliance functions.
