Description
Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife's (KDFWR) mission is to conserve and enhance fish and wildlife
resources and provide opportunity for hunting, fishing, trapping, boating and other wildlife related

KDFWR is advertising a Game Warden II position located in the Law Enforcement Division, District 1, Region 1.
Responsibilities of the Game Warden II include but are not limited to the following:
- Patrol fields, forests, and waterways; interpreting and enforcing state and federal wildlife, fishing and
boating laws. Issue citations or make arrests. - Respond to public requests for assistance.
- Collect evidence and present in court.
- Provide continuous communication with public in district by advising on wildlife conservation, property
issues and trespassing, hunting, fishing and boating laws. - Monitor the licensing of fish and wildlife related activities (pay lakes, pet permits, bait dealers,
commercial guides, etc.). - Attend training as required by government and oversight entities.
- Serve as Field Training Officer for new officers.
- During periods of emergency, officer will provide emergency assistance as well as provide emergency
equipment for use (vehicle, radio, boat and other equipment) as directed by supervisor. - Assist agency staff with programs, including camper transportation, hunter safety training, surveys, and delivering informational materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to:
- Excellent leadership
- Organization and public relations skills.
- The ability to foster and maintain relationships with employees and customers in assigned region.
- Extensive knowledge of Fish and Wildlife rules, regulations, and policies.
- Extensive knowledge of search and seizure, civil rights and the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
- The ability to mentor and further educate other officers.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
High School graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Must have five years of Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) law enforcement experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
Must be twenty-one years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Employees in this job classification are subject to the provisions of Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) Chapter 15 and Kentucky Administrative Regulation (KAR) 503 KAR 1:140 relating to peace officer certification as administered by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. Will be required to carry and/or use a firearm; applicant must not be prohibited from the purchase, receipt, or possession of firearms, ammunition, or both pursuant to applicable federal or state law while employed in this job classification; applicant must complete all required firearms safety training courses offered or approved by the hiring agency. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Conditions are consistent with other law enforcement officers. Incumbents working in this job title spend the majority of time working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
