REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Livestock Feeding Consultant for Northwest Iowa, within the West Central Operating Area for the Agri-Group.
PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Under general direction, he or she is responsible for leading and motivating nursery and grow/finish area managers, production site managers and employees, and overseeing the operation of nurseries and grow/finish production units through regular visits and continuous communication. This position is responsible for all nursery and grow/finish services within a designated sales territory and will include hands-on interaction with livestock, regular travel, administrative duties, and employee development and oversight.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide focus and leadership, by establishing and clearly communicating expectations of swine and facility management at the field level.
- Provide support, guidance, and feedback to site managers through daily communication.
- Oversee nursery and grow/finish swine flows with focus on efficiency, growth, and continuous improvement.
- Assist the Swine Specialist in communicating with pig owner, veterinarian, feed mill, site manager, barn owner, and livestock transportation company.
- Be responsible for:
- Site, Health & Production Records
- Grade incoming Pigs
- Mark, and from time to time, assist in sorting market ready pigs
- Manage ventilation, feeder and water adjustments
- Adopt and enforce standard operating procedures and training regiments for each entity.
- Manage for each entity, the flow of pigs provided as directed by the owner and/or its McNess supervisor.
- Adopt and enforce all biosecurity measures, rules and practices.
- Perform other work related duties as requested or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; 1–2 years of finishing site or grower/finisher management experience preferred
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead, coach, and build relationships at all levels
- Demonstrated customer service mindset with a sense of urgency
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities
- Team-oriented with a willingness to support broader operational needs
- Adaptable and open to change, with the ability to provide and receive feedback
- Ability to travel as needed; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
