Job Summary:

The Operations Control Specialist (OCS) is an agent appointed by the Director of Operations and entrusted with delegated operational control authority to manage the tactical, day-to-day execution of flight operations. In accordance with 14 CFR §135.619, the OCS shares responsibility with the pilot in command prior to each mission by conducting preflight risk analyses, conducting comprehensive weather briefings, and disseminating critical aviation alerts, including NOTAMs and TFRs.

The OCS ensures every mission is executed in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations as well as all company policies and procedures. Leveraging advanced technology, the Operations Control Center continuously monitors flight activity to ensure the safety of both crews and passengers. Enhanced situational awareness tools allow the OCC to identify and respond to inflight anomalies in real time.

In this fast-paced environment, the Operations Control Specialist must demonstrate sound judgment, precise decision-making, and exceptional attention to detail to support safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Provides weather briefings, including current and forecast weather along the planned route of flight.

· Dissemination of aviation information such as NOTAMS and TFRs.

· Provides two-way communications to pilots.

· Monitor the progress of all flight operations.

· Maintain enhanced situational awareness.

· Manages multiple tasks in parallel.

· Participates in the preflight risk analysis in compliance with 14 CFR §135.617.

· Comply with all directives and guidance of the Apollo MedFlight’s General Operations Manual, Policy & Procedures, Company Bulletins, Federal Aviation Regulations.

· Interact and provide excellent customer service with Apollo MedFlight’s Communication Center as well as all partner communication centers. Promptly escalate operational, personnel, or customer conflicts or concerns to the OCC Manager.

· Activate and assist company partners with post-accident/post-Incident procedures.

· Provide feedback and debrief information following events.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

·Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

· Available for shift work, to include day shift, mid shift, and night shift, weekends and holidays.

· Able to work independently in a high pace and high stress environment, and maintain composure under pressure, while working effectively and accurately with frequent interruptions.

· Ability to communicate professionally, effectively and persuasively, both orally and in writing, at all levels of the organization.

· Ability to work within a strong team environment.

· Excellent public relations, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

· Excellent computer and typing skills and ability to multi-task multiple computer applications at one time.

· Must possess an Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate or be able to complete the course after being enrolled in an aircraft dispatching class as described in 14 CFR §subpart C.

· Regular and reliable attendance.

· Valid Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate

· Pilot Certificate

· Pilot instrument rating (Any Category)

· Previous OCC Experience within the Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) Industry

 

Working Conditions:

· Must participate in the FAA Safety Sensitive Alcohol and Drug testing program as required by 14 CFR §120.

· Able to multitask and remain calm under pressure.

· Able to utilize good time and resource management in a time of critical thinking.

· Show competency in reading different types of maps and the orientation of each.

· Must be able to monitor multiple screens and be able to sit for long periods in an office environment.

· The majority of the workday is spent sitting at a desk or workstation while performing tasks on a computer, such as data entry, email communication, and documentation.

· The ability to type and use a keyboard extensively. Proficiency in typing and computer skills are essential for this role.

· Frequently engage in verbal and written communication. Clear and effective communication skills are essential.

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times. Occasionally need to handle files, paperwork, or office supplies, which could involve lifting light objects.

· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

 

Schedule:

· Full Time

· 182 Workdays/ 1820 Hours per Year to include

o 5 days on / 5 days off

o Day, mid, or night shift

o 10-hour shifts

· Workover/Overtime available when necessary
