Job Description

About the Department

This position is responsible for managing the repair and maintenance of city roads and streets.

Position Duties

• Develops, plans, directs and provides technical assistance for the maintenance and repair of city streets.
• Prepares and plans work schedules for daily and seasonal operations.
• Investigates complaints from the general public.
• Ensures compliance with safety procedures.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of the annual budget.
• Assists in the preparation of equipment specifications and assists in the identification and articulation of long-range equipment needs.
• Supervises skilled and semi-skilled employees in construction, maintenance and labor work as needed.
• Trains, assigns, directs, schedules, supervises, evaluates and disciplines personnel.
• Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of a 4-year degree in a course study related to the occupational field or 5-years of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require five years of related experience.
• Proof of satisfactory performance in previous employment is required.
• Possession, or the ability to obtain, a valid North Dakota driver's license. Must be able to obtain a North Dakota Class A or B CDL within one year of employment.
