Job Description

Heartland Veterinary Clinic is seeking a motivated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys working closely with animals and people, and is eager to learn and grow in veterinary medicine.

Our team works hard to provide excellent medical care while creating a supportive, collaborative workplace. We are looking for someone who is dependable, flexible, and ready to jump in wherever needed.

Schedule

Part-time position working 5 days per week (20+ hours).

Responsibilities

Veterinary Assistants play an essential role in patient care and daily clinic operations. Duties may include:

  • Assisting veterinarians and technicians during examinations and procedures

  • Safely restraining pets for exams, treatments, blood draws, and nail trims, etc.

  • Preparing exam rooms and treatment areas

  • Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining medical equipment

  • Feeding, walking, and providing basic care for hospitalized pets

  • Assisting with laboratory sample collection and processing

  • Maintaining a clean and organized hospital environment

  • General kennel care, laundry, and sanitation duties

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work on your feet and handle animals safely

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Prior veterinary or animal care experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate
