Description

Communications Execution and Brand Storytelling
Execute integrated external communications tactics in support of the team's brand marketing, community engagement, and fundraising communications goals.
Produce clear, compelling, and on-brand content for diverse audiences, including media, policymakers, funders, and community stakeholders.

Track industry trends and policy developments to surface relevant insights that inform City Teaching Alliance's positioning and messaging.
Support alignment between communications deliverables and organizational goals in coordination with the Director and broader team.
Media and Public Engagement

Coordinate logistics and communications support for conferences, media engagement, and external-facing events.
Assist in managing external events to ensure brand consistency, budget adherence, and organizational value.
Develop and deliver tools, templates, and messaging resources that support Executive Directors in their local communications and community engagement efforts.
Maintain and build relationships with local reporters to support visibility and storytelling in key markets.
Marketing and Development Communications

Draft and produce content, including donor communications, impact reports, newsletters, and campaign materials, that support fundraising and funder stewardship.
Execute storytelling campaigns aligned with the organization's mission, community impact, and long-term investment goals.
Maintain a consistent digital presence across platforms through regular content scheduling, monitoring, and reporting.
Support partner outreach through templated and customized communications assets.
Cross-Functional Support

Serve as a responsive, reliable point of contact for Executive Directors seeking communications support and messaging guidance for their local markets.
Produce and adapt messaging toolkits, talking points, and presentation materials for use across regions.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure external-facing content reflects mission, equity commitments, and strategic priorities.
Assist in building and maintaining relationships with local partners, peer organizations, and community influencers.

Organizational Stewardship

In addition to the key responsibilities noted above, you will be asked to participate in activities that support the organization overall, including:
Final interview days
Working groups and committees
Recruitment and selection support
Organization-wide retreat planning and facilitation

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
3-5 years of experience in communications, nonprofit marketing, and/or content production preferred.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to brand voice and narrative consistency.
Proficiency with digital tools, including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, SEO/SEM best practices, and social media platforms.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Collaborative, organized, and proactive: comfortable taking direction while also working independently.
Ability to work effectively with people of all backgrounds and handle  confidential information with discretion.
Experience working across departments and/or in remote teams preferred.

Overview
The Assistant Director of Communications and Regional Engagement is a hands-on contributor on the Marketing and Communications team. The role will execute City Teaching Alliance's communications strategy, support community engagement initiatives, and produce storytelling content across 
traditional and digital media channels.

Reporting Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, this role will support regional brand visibility, contribute to thought leadership content, and deliver compelling communications that connect with funders, partners, and the broader public.
