Job Description

Position Summary

The Structural Steel Welder is responsible for fitting, welding, and assembling structural steel components using flux-core welding processes in accordance with drawings, specifications, and safety standards. This position is essential in producing high-quality steel assemblies for EZARC's fabrication operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform flux-core (FCAW) welding on structural steel per project drawings and weld symbols.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings accurately.
  • Fit, align, and secure parts using clamps, jigs, fixtures, and measuring tools.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts to handle materials and assemblies.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and workspace in clean, safe condition.
  • Follow all company safety policies and participate in required pre-task planning and safety meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, fitters, and other team members to ensure quality and production goals are met.
  • Report any material defects, drawing discrepancies, or unsafe conditions to supervision immediately.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in flux-core welding of structural steel preferred.
  • Ability to certify a 3G test using 3/8 Plate and 1/16 wire.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Certification to AWS D1.1 standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe rigging and material handling.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a fabrication shop environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
