Assistant Principal


 


Employment Term (days):  210


 


Pay Scale:  Principal/Assistant Principal - 3


 


Primary Purpose:


Support and advance the district’s vision of “Achieving Excellence for All” on campus and in the community. Assist the school principal in overall administration of instructional programming and campus level operations. Prioritize student learning and safety through instructional leadership, timely communication, and active monitoring of campus operations. Coordinate assigned student activities and services.


 


Qualification Guidelines:


 


Education/Certifications:


Master’s degree in educational administration or related field


Successful completion of an approved principal preparation program and required exams


Valid Texas Standard Principal certificate or other appropriate SBEC certificate


Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) certified (or willing to obtain)


 


Experience:


Three years’ experience as a classroom teacher or instructional leader


 


Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills


Ability to coordinate campus support operations


Ability to evaluate teacher effectiveness


Ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence, strong decision-making, and build trust and rapport with students, staff, and community


If assigned to a Bilingual or Dual-Language Campus, ability to clearly communicate (verbal and written) in both English and Spanish


 


Supervisory Responsibilities:


Share supervisory and evaluation responsibilities with school principal for staff assigned to campus including but not limited to: teachers, paraprofessionals, clerical staff, custodians and others as assigned
