Job Description
Brookhaven Retirement Community 

Position Summary:


Manages and directs resident care within the nursing department in-order to maintain resident standards of care and ensure that each resident functions at his/her highest level.


Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to complete performance requirements independently while using good judgment as well as have the ability to harmoniously work with others

  • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language


Position Responsibilities:



  • Must follow Brookhaven Policies and Procedures

  • Must meet job related competencies as outlined in the Skills Competency Manual

  • Coordinates resident care through departmental and appropriate staff committee meetings

  • Ensures that staffing is adequate to meet State and Federal requirements

  • Guides nursing department in adherence to all state and federal regulations

  • Evaluates and disciplines nursing personnel according to Brookhaven policy

  • Supervises the maintenance of nursing and medical treatments and related services executed by nursing personnel

  • Participates in the QA process

  • Ensures availability of nursing supplies and equipment

  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining his/her own professional competence

  • Verifies that the nursing personnel have valid and current licenses as required by the State in which they work

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse with the State Board of Nursing.

  • CPR certification recommended.
