Position Overview

The Compliance Analyst will support Small Medium-sized Business (SMB) compliance programs for both acquiring, issuing and ACH in the payment’s ecosystem. This role ensures adherence to Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, NACHA, and network regulations, as well as bank partner requirements. The analyst will be responsible for conducting due diligence, monitoring compliance activities, managing regulatory reporting, and supporting audits and investigations. The position requires strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work across teams to maintain compliance with card brand, sponsor bank, and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory & Network Compliance

  • Review, filter and disseminate Visa CEDP, Mastercard Data Integrity, Discover, and Amex compliance programs reporting

  • Conduct initial Service Provider due diligence registrations and annual renewals for Visa, Mastercard and sponsor banks. 

  • Manage merchant registration and deregistration programs for Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover to include annual certification with sponsor banks.

Investigations

  • Perform AML/BSA/OFAC reviews, including CIP QA/QC testing, SAR reviews, PEP reviews, and fraud investigations.

  • Track and escalate account data compromises (ADC), common point purchase CPP fraud events, surcharge violations, and EMV/NFC compliance issues.

  • Research and interpret network notifications, fraud alerts, MCC usage, BIN violations

Reporting

  • Maintain compliance reporting including AML reporting, PCI compliance, merchant surcharge reporting, and data integrity reporting.

  • Participate in weekly and quarterly compliance calls with card brands, sponsor banks, and internal data integrity teams.

Case Management

  • Manage internal surcharge program approvals for MXA/ISO partners, including reporting.

  • Track and report consumer complaints to sponsor bank

Collaboration & Communication

  • Respond to compliance inquiries from business units, sponsor banks, and networks.

  • Support training initiatives, including AML, PCI, and compliance refreshers.

  • Participate in webinars, compliance forums, and network workshops to stay current with industry requirements.

  • Update and maintain compliance SOPs, procedures, and documentation.



Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Legal, or related field, or equivalent work experience i.e. 2–5 years of compliance, risk, or regulatory experience in payments, acquiring, ACH, or issuing.

  • Working knowledge of Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and NACHA, compliance programs (CEDP, VIRP, Data Integrity, PCI, AML, OFAC).

  • Familiarity with AML/BSA, UDAP/UDAAP, Reg E, Reg P, and related banking regulations.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with compliance tools, reporting systems, and document repositories (ShareFile, BI reporting, MXC, etc.).

  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ISO/MSP program management and third-party due diligence.

  • Understanding of fraud monitoring tools and case management systems.

  • Prior experience working with sponsor banks (Synovus, Wells Fargo, Sutton Bank, etc.).

  • Ability to summarize complex technical and regulatory documentation into clear, actionable guidance.
