Job Description

Metro Lagoons is growing fast, and we are looking for motivated individuals to grow with us!

JOB SUMMARY: The Summer Camp Counselor (multiple openings available) will support the execution of MetroLagoons’ brand-new summer camps. Reporting to the Camp Lead, Counselors play a key role in delivering a safe, engaging, and high-energy experience by assisting with activities, supervising groups, and maintaining a positive camp environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of daily camp activities (both on land and in water), ensuring campers have fun and remain engaged.
  • Supervise assigned camper groups, maintaining awareness, accountability, and safety at all times.
  • Support camp setup, transitions between activities, and breakdown to ensure a smooth daily flow.
  • Assist with check-in/check-out, snack/lunch distribution, and general camper needs.
  • Reinforce camp rules, expectations, and safety procedures as directed by the Camp Lead.
  • Promote a fun, welcoming, and energetic camp culture that aligns with MetroLagoons standards.
  • Communicate camper concerns, behavioral issues, or incidents promptly to the Camp Lead.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of camp areas and supplies.
  • Engage positively with campers, fellow staff, and guests to contribute to an overall strong camp experience.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Previous experience working with children in camps, schools, childcare, sports, or similar environments.
  • Ability to follow direction and execute assigned tasks reliably and consistently.
  • Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to support overall camp success.
  • Friendly, energetic, and approachable demeanor.
  • Professionalism in appearance and behavior.
  • Ability to work outdoors in summer weather conditions.
  • Comfort with, in, and around water preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.

 

Seasonal Role Details:

  • MUST be able to work all of the following camp weeks: June 1–5, June 22–26, July 13–17, and July 27–31. (Camp runs 9am–1pm daily, with pre- and post-duties.)
  • Must be able to attend a camp counselor orientation in mid-to-late May.
  • Work location: Epperson Lagoon in Wesley Chapel, FL
